"Thank you so much for visiting my Web page. I hope to be
able to share with you some information on my background and also let you know about my latest book Caught in the Web of the
Spider."
"Caught in the Web of the Spider" is a book that tells of a woman who grew up in Nazi Germany and later establishes
herself as a respectable business woman. When her children are grown and no longer need tending to, her husband falls victim
to a series of serious illnesses. Having to endure several familial hardships, she eventually turns to gambling as an escape.
She frequents her favorite casino and begins to lead a secret life. Her passion for roulette then turns to addiction and,
in time, leads to crime."
Mareen Mathis
Mareen Mathis was born
in Stuttgart, Germany in 1934 and raised during the Hitler dictatorship. After enduring many of the common hardships brought
on by World War II, she eventually terminated her secondary education and entered into clerical training. Later, she successfully
ran her own carpet business for twenty years. She was twice married, had two children, and four grandchildren. After the death
of her second husband, she had the time to actively pursue her affection for writing. Caught in the Web of the Spider is her
first book.
She now resides part-time in Florida and dedicates most of her time in Germany to writing a children's
book in German and promoting Caught in the Web of the Spider throughout English-speaking Europe.
